Practice Policies
Privacy & Confidentiality
The law protects the relationship between a client and a psychotherapist, and information cannot be disclosed without written permission.
Exceptions include:
Suspected child abuse or dependant adult or elder abuse, for which I am required by law to report this to the appropriate authorities immediately.
If a client is threatening serious bodily harm to another person/s, I must notify the police and inform the intended victim.
If a client intends to harm himself or herself, I will make every effort to enlist their cooperation in ensuring their safety. If they do not cooperate, I will take further measures without their permission that are provided to me by law in order to ensure their safety.
Sliding Fee Discount Program Policy
This formal policy has been in place since January 1, 2025 and addresses the following:
Patient Eligibility:
This agency clearly defines what constitutes eligible income and family size, and regular re-evaluations are performed to ensure ongoing eligibility.Documentation and Verification:
All patients must provide the necessary documentation and undergo a verification process to confirm eligibility for the program.Program Advertising:
The discount program is actively advertised so that all potential patients are aware of the financial support available.Nominal Charge Details:
For patients at or below 100% of the FPG, if a nominal charge is applied, they are provided a clear explanation and have established policies regarding the assessment and collection of this charge.
At Shannon Ruane Counseling, I believe that financial barriers should not prevent anyone from receiving the care they need. If you have any questions about our Sliding Fee Discount Program or need assistance with the application process, please do not hesitate to reach out.
